Mentor Soccer Club offers an exciting and informative in-house program for our budding 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-old players! We have designed this program to focus on team building, fundamentals, and FUN!  Our team leaders are coaches, student-athletes, and parents volunteering their time to keep our young soccer stars active and learning! One of our parents’ favorite parts about our program is that the Spring season is automatically included when registering your player for the Fall season!

We take a lot of pride in our in-house program. Over the years, we have focused on teaching our players the fundamentals of the game of soccer. It's never too early to learn! Our little ones learn how to dribble, pass, and create space on the field, all while having a blast!

Our program is broken into U4/U5 and U6/U7 divisions. All teams within the in-house program are co-ed and are offered in both Fall and Spring.

Our soccer teams will be limited to 8 players, allowing games to be 4v4 on small-sided fields with no goalie. All teams play one session a week.

What players will need for practices:

Each player is required to wear their MSC uniform and shin guards. Cleats are mandatory. Jewelry must be removed before all sessions. Water bottles and a smile are highly encouraged! Chairs, blankets, and your camera are also good ideas! Please no smoking or pets on our fields.

Teams will rotate between practice sessions and game sessions on Saturdays or Sundays. Schedules should be released two weeks before the season starts. You will also receive your coach information at this time. Those returning from Fall will stay with their same team in Spring. New players will be assigned to teams as they register.

Our coaches will determine the drills and will sometimes ask for parent involvement. Practices last for one hour; at the end of practice, 2 teams will hold about a 15-minute scrimmage. One coach between the two teams will be the referee for the game, but there will still be no scorekeeping. Our coaches are on the field guiding the players!

The Academy Program consists of the following basic elements:

- A coach will lead the entire session with individual parent volunteer coaches leading small teams.

-Fall Instructional Sessions (August-October): Six weeks, held One hour each on Saturdays or Sundays mornings at Krueger Park or other parks in the City of Mentor.

- Each session will have children divided in their own small teams. The players receive full group instruction, may work through several skill stations, and typically conclude with a short game with 4-5 children on each team.

- Spring Season (April-May): Six weeks, held for one hour each on Saturdays or Sundays. These sessions will reinforce and build upon what was learned in the Fall.

Coaches will benefit as well from observing and participating in these sessions.

In summary, we want our youngest players to learn basic techniques and how to have fun with the game.  We know that a player who has not learned the proper techniques can ultimately become frustrated as they get older.  A player who has developed skills will do well and probably enjoy the game much more.  Our wish is to provide a fun experience for all players. Program fee is $100.00.
