Q.  WHAT IF I CANNOT MAKE TRYOUTS?
A.  Contact us at [email protected], to arrange an alternative evaluation date and time
.

Q.  WHAT IS THE EVALUATION FORMAT?
A.  Players will be evaluated as they play games of soccer with varying numbers of players, anywhere from 1v1 to 11v11.  Evaluations are performed by members of the MSC Wave coaching staff.  Players are evaluated on a number of factors such as dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, field awareness, speed of play, strength, and work rate. Input from previous year's coaches may be used, including ability and commitment level.  Ultimately, a ranking of players is developed for each age group.

Q.  HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED?
A.
Players are offered spots on an MSC Wave team based upon their tryout performance, previous experience, birth year, and team needs.  If there is more than one team in an age group, players are offered a spot on the team that best fits their skill set. In some cases, teams may be formed with different birth year players. Players can be placed on a team up to two birth years up.

Targeted roster sizes:

  • U8 and U10 (7v7) - 14 players
  • U11 and U12 (9v9) - 16 players
  • U13, U14 and U15(11v11) - 18 players

Q.  WHEN/HOW ARE NOTIFICATIONS MADE?
A.
Notifications are expected to be made approximately 5-7 days after the end of the last tryout.  If your child makes an MSC Wave team, the initial notification will be via e-mail.  You will be given the opportunity to accept or decline your position. You will have seven day from the time you received an invite to accept the invitation or you invitation may be forfeited.

Q.  WHAT AGE TEAMS ARE AVAILABLE?
A.
We expect there will be MSC Wave teams from U8-U15 both Boys and Girls.  Players may try out two birth years up, but will be placed at the discretion of the Vice President of Wave. Typically, players will be placed on an older age team if their skill set allows for the opportunity, or at the discretion of the Vice President of Wave.

Q.  WHO ARE THE COACHES?
A.  This will be announced when tryout announcements are made, if not earlier.  The head coach will typically be a non-parent coach, while assistants may be parent volunteers.  All MSC Wave head coaches have significant soccer playing and/or coaching experience, must have an appropriate coaching, and be approved by the MSC Board by way of the Vice President of Wave.

Q.  WHAT IF MY CHILD DOES NOT MAKE A TEAM? A.  If a child does not make a team, they have the opportunity to play in our Rec program.
